Welcome

Thank you for your interest in the Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. I hope you find the information in this microsite interesting and informative, and that you enjoy learning more about these exciting Board roles, our Trust, our vision, our achievements and our challenges. This is an exciting time for us at the Royal as we seek to recruit a new Chief Executive and Director of Human Resources and Organisational Development.

The last two years have been unprecedented for the NHS, and I am so proud of and grateful to our 4,200 staff who have worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic, ensuring that our patients and communities continued to receive the best care possible. We know that the impact on our people will be long term, and we continue to focus on the health and well being of all of our staff.

As we look towards the future, we have brought together our staff, patients, partners and the public to design our new Trust Strategy, Together as One. Running to 2026, this sets out ambitious goals including our aim to achieve outstanding, and it keeps patients and staff at the heart of everything.

We know we cannot do this alone, and we are a key player in Joined Up Care Derbyshire, our local ICS, working with a breadth of partners to deliver for our communities. We have strong ties into our local communities, their support throughout the pandemic has been overwhelming and we know we have more work to do in building further on those relationships.

Both these roles are critical to our future success and our ambitions. We are a successful and stable Trust and this Chief Executive role would suit aspiring Chief Executives or those who already have experience at this level and are seeking a fresh challenge. You would lead a committed Executive team and a talented workforce who are valued and embedded in our communities. Our new Director of Human Resources and Organisational Development will have the opportunity lead further development of our culture, driving transformation in our service delivery models both across our Trust and our systems at both place and regional level. Both positions will require role models for our values and will ensure we continue to deliver outstanding care to our patients.

Fundamentally our values are at the heart of everything we do. Our Proud to CARE values support our vision of providing patients with the best possible care and a great place for staff to work. This is further supported by our framework for all leaders – Leading the Chesterfield Way. Based on the NHS Healthcare Leadership Model, it sets out the behaviours and characteristics we would expect from our leaders, explaining how leaders can effectively demonstrate them and develop them.

If you share our vision and values, and feel inspired to Lead the Chesterfield Way, then we would love to hear from you, and I will hopefully be able to meet you in the near future. Please do contact our recruitment advisors Emma Pickup and Jim Canning from GatenbySanderson on 07590 225 470 or 07384 113 158 if you have any questions or would like an informal discussion.

Kind regards,

Helen Phillips
